1. Family book / album foundation
30–60 photos from the year, in time order. Size 10×15 for a classic family album. Volume discount: 50 prints → 12% off, unit cost €0.70.
Recommendation: glossy paper, Polaroid border — write the month and age at the bottom by hand ("3 months", "first swim"). An album that's good to flip through 20 years later.
2. First-birthday statement print
One photo from the end of the year or the birthday. Print at 20×30, matte, no border, framed. In the child's room on a wall or in the living room as a statement. Not in an album where it disappears — visible every day.
3. Gift prints for grandparents
6–8 photos for close family. Sizes: 15×20 framed (for grandparents' desk) and 10×15 Polaroid-style for the broader circle (aunts, uncles).
How often should you order?
Bulk orders pay off when you've already curated and selected. The volume discount of 5–12% saves more on one large order than on smaller split orders.
- 2 times a year — April (first 6 months) and October (full year + birthday). Both with the volume discount, plus larger framed prints for the milestones
- 1 time a year — end-of-year, one big 60+ print order. Maximum volume discount
- Quarterly — 4 × 15 prints across the year. Less discount but more moment-by-moment feel
Two small things that make the album great.
- Pick for volume, not 100% perfection — family books work better with everyday shots than studio-grade
- Polaroid border for date and age — years later your child can find their photos by name, not by counting
- One extra statement print, framed — favourite photo on a wall, not just in an album (which you rarely open)
- First 6 months can look similar — pick across months rather than every day
